Robert Burdick (d.1692) immigrated from England to the New England Colony, and by 1655 had settled at Newport, Rhode Island. In Newport in 1655, he married Ruth Hubbard, daughter of Samuel Hubbard and Tacy Cooper of Springfield, Massachusetts. Thomas Burdick (b.1795), a direct descendant in the sixth generation, was born in New York and married Anna Higley in 1828. Rebecca Burdick, sister of Thomas, married Hiram Winters. These Burdick and Winters families became Mormon converts in 1833, living in Kirtland, Ohio and Nauvoo, Illinois before moving west. Thomas and his family settled in Los Angeles, California, and the Winters family stayed in Utah. Descen- dants and relatives lived in Utah, California and elsewhere. Augusta (Winters) Hatch was a granddaugher of Hiram Winters and Rebecca Burdick, born in Pleasant Grove to Oscar L. Winters and his wife, Mary Ann Stearns. Augusta was the second wife of Heber Jeddy Grant (1856-1945), who served as the seventh President of the Church of of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints between 1918 and 1945. Descendants and relatives of Robert lived in New England, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas and elsewhere.
